🇧🇷 Começar um novo ano é bom! Melhor ainda com uma nova publicação e novos conhecimentos sobre as borboletas do gênero Dasyophthalma, que ocorrem apenas na Mata Atlântica do Brasil. Esse gênero inclui cinco espécies de borboletas de tamanho médio que se reproduzem apenas uma vez por ano.
Apesar dos avanços recentes, pouco se sabe sobre a história natural de Dasyophthalma. Mas sabemos que três das cinco espécies deste gênero estão incluídas na Lista Vermelha da Fauna Ameaçada de Extinção no Brasil e, portanto, são de interesse para a conservação.
Este estudo fornece, pela primeira vez, uma avaliação filogenética de todas as espécies de Dasyophthalma com base em uma abordagem molecular. Além disso, são apresentados e discutidos dados atualizados de distribuição e aspectos importantes da conservação das espécies ameaçadas pertencentes a esse gênero.
🇬🇧 Starting a new year is good! Even better with a new publication and new insights into the butterflies of the genus Dasyophthalma, which occur only in the Atlantic Rainforest of Brazil. This genus includes five species of medium-sized butterflies that reproduce only once a year.
Despite recent advances, little is known about the natural history of Dasyophthalma. But we do know that three of the five species are included on the Red List of Endangered Fauna in Brazil, and are therefore of interest for conservation.
This study provides, for the first time, a phylogenetic assessment of all Dasyophthalma species based on a molecular approach. In addition, updated distribution data and important aspects of the conservation of threatened species belonging to this genus are presented and discussed.
