Sophronitis coccinea is a species of orchid that is endemic to the Atlantic Rainforest in the south and south-east of the Brazil. It is most commonly found between 600 and 1700 metres above sea level, in more humid and cooler areas.
It blooms between autumn and spring in the southern hemisphere, and ours Sophronitis here at ARAÇÁ Project can be found on many of our trees.
Their flowers last between 2 and 3 weeks and during this time they add even more colour to our forests.

A Sophronitis coccinea é uma espécie de orquídea endêmica da Mata Atlântica do sul e sudeste do país, encontrada mais comumente entre 600 a 1700 m de altitude, em áreas mais úmidas e frias.
Sua floração se dá entre o outono e primavera, e as nossas aqui no Projeto ARAÇÁ podem ser encontradas em várias de nossas árvores.
Suas flores duram entre 2 a 3 semanas e durante esse tempo colorem ainda mais nossas matas.
